Enhancing the anticorrosion performance of mild steel in sulfuric acid using synthetic non-ionic surfactants: practical and theoretical studies

چکیده
The anticorrosion potency of Sabic mild steel (MS) in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution was enhanced by three synthetic non-ionic surfactants (NI Surf.) containing pyridine and pyrimidine derivatives. These compounds are safe, environmentally friendly, harmless to human health. Chemical electrochemical measurements were used compute the corrosion parameters. efficacy increases with increasing concentration NI Surf. lowering temperature, surface interfacial tension, critical micelle concentration. effectiveness is interpreted due spontaneous horizontal adsorption on MS existence some active centers that facilitate adsorption. process obeys Temkin isotherm. Potentiodynamic polarization elucidated acted as mixed-type inhibitors. Some properties determined confirm anticorrosive effect these molecules. Quantum chemical parameters reactivity descriptors carried out. It should be noted results obtained from computational calculations specifications full agreement experimental observations.
